Visual Stories – Taking it from Ordinary to Extraordinary on October 15, 2019

The Arts & Culture Alliance is pleased to present a professional development seminar for artists and other creative people on Tuesday, October 15, from 4:30-5:30 PM at the Emporium Center in downtown Knoxville. Join us as we welcome Elle Colquitt.

Photography is a powerful tool for creating visual stories. Let Elle Colquitt show you ways to fine tune your observation skills while learning techniques that can help you create more captivating images. Turn those plain snapshots into visually refreshing images that will intrigue viewers to use their imagination — taking your images from ordinary to extraordinary.

(Please note, this presentation is not on how to shoot your artwork and share it on Instagram.)

Elle Colquitt’s artistic career began as an art-quilt designer where her designs were self-published as patterns and books. She exhibited at International Quilt Festivals and trade shows across the US and shared her techniques on PBS and HGTV. Elle’s venture into photography coincided with the self-publishing of three bicycling guide books for Tennessee. Currently the content manager for Outdoor Knoxville, her photos and descriptions showcase the beautiful parks, trails and greenways of East Tennessee. Many of these images are shared by travel photographers across the country.

Elle’s passion for street photography has taken her to both large and small cities, capturing unique images of its urban landscape that tell a story of its culture and aesthetics. Her work with reflections highlight the moment-in-time juxtapositions that are abundant in city life. Elle enjoys sharing her creative perspective through photo walks and workshops, encouraging her students to expand their observation skills and create intriguing images for their narrative.

She is an active member of the Professional Photographers of East Tennessee, Arts & Culture Alliance, and the League of Scruffy Photographers. Look for her work at First Friday showings scheduled for 2019 at various downtown locations. Elle Colquitt Photography & Design: ellecolquitt.com
