Oak Ridge Playhouse: Jr. Playhouse Summer Theatre Camp
Oak Ridge Playhouse: Jr. Playhouse Summer Theatre Camp
Jun 12-16 and Jun 19-23
Mon-Thu 9 AM – 3 PM, Fri 9 AM – 5 PM
The Dance Centre of Oak Ridge and at Oak Ridge Playhouse
Providing a fun, unique, and valuable experience for children interested in theatre, the camp will be divided into two groups: the younger group will focus on storytelling and the use of storytelling in performance, while the older group will concentrate on creating a detailed character through various acting techniques and exercises.
Children in rising grades 3-6 will have the opportunity to explore the art of storytelling through theatre. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, they will learn to use their bodies, voices, and imaginations to bring stories to life on stage. Through games and creative play, they will develop skills in teamwork, communication, and self-expression.
Older children, in rising grades 7-12, will delve deeper into the craft of acting. They will learn techniques for creating a detailed character, including physical and vocal characterization, emotional memory, and improvisation.
Both groups will have the opportunity to work together and demonstrate their skills in a final performance showcase for family and friends on the Oak Ridge Playhouse stage. The camp features two experienced instructors with impressive backgrounds in theatre education and performance. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
