Bailey Opportunity Grants, deadline March 22

Important 2020 dates:

  • Sunday, March 22, 2020 at midnight: Bailey Opportunity Grants Receipt Deadline (electronic submissions are strongly preferred)
  • Mid-May 2020: Awards announced

Through the generosity of Ann and Steve Bailey, the Arts & Culture Alliance offers Bailey Opportunity Grants, which are a part of the Arts & Heritage Fund. Bailey Opportunity Grants provide financial and technical support to individual artists and small, professionally-oriented arts and culture organizations (whose budget is under $100,000). The grants are designed to spur continued artistic and administrative growth in innovative, entrepreneurial artists and organizations at any stage in their development.

Projects that allow for the exploration of new avenues of creativity, wrestling with new ideas that can advance one’s creative work, acquiring equipment that will help create or sell work, and strengthening business practices are especially encouraged.

Grant Period: July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021 (funds available July 1, 2020)

Grant Awards announced mid-May 2020 and range from $100 to $75,000 (for a combined total of $100,000)

The goal of Bailey Opportunity Grants is to create a more vital creative community in Knoxville by: encouraging contributions to the city’s economy and quality of life by artists and arts and history organizations; positioning Knoxville as a community that honors its creative industry and supports the efforts of artists and organizations to achieve excellence; and raising public profiles of artists and organizations within the city and beyond.

Applications must be received by midnight on Sunday, March 22, 2020. Electronic submissions to Liza Zenni, Executive Director, at  LZ@knoxalliance.com are preferred.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to schedule a meeting with (and direct any questions of eligibility to) Liza Zenni prior to submitting an application: 865-523-7543 or LZ@knoxalliance.com.
