Arts in the Airport 19th Exhibition

Statement of Purpose
For the past nine years, the Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (McGhee Tyson Airport) have partnered to present a biannual exhibition entitled “Arts in the Airport”. This juried exhibition was developed to allow regional artists to compete and display work in the most visited site in the area. The selected art features contemporary 2- and 3-dimensional artwork and will be displayed April 19 – October 17, 2018.

Juror Jessica Wohl, Assistant Professor of Art at the University of the South, provided this statement about the exhibition: “The works that were chosen as selected winners present a marriage of highly developed technical skills, intriguing content and professional presentation. All of the works use arresting aesthetics to draw the viewer to them and then keep the viewer engaged by both presenting challenging subject matter and posing meaningful questions about the content of the piece.”

The following artists’ works are on display: Reid Arowood, Booder Barnes, Mary Bogert, Anna Halliwell Boyd, Paula E. Campbell, Pat Clapsaddle, Virginia Derryberry, Marilyn Dwyer, Melissa Everett, David Gohn, Giles R. Hammat, John Hampton, Mark Hardy, Kelly Hider, Kathy Holland, Brian Horais, Dawn Hinesley Jones, Anne Kinggard, Merry Koschan, Bill Long, Beauvais Lyons, Shelley Mangold, Marty McConnaughey, Ken McMahon, Mary Saylor, Cynthia Tipton, Richardson Turner, Linda A.
