Alex Smith

Suite 111
Alex Smith is an American artist. His work illuminates reality and allows his audience a glimpse of how a landscape artist sees life. “I’ve lived both in the hustle and bustle of New York and out in the country. Whatever my surroundings, I’ve become very aware of being present in the moment while I’m working. I hope my art brings viewers the ability to be still and silence the noises of the world. That stillness is the only way to figure out each painting’s story for one’s self.”

Alex is a graduate of Carson Newman University with an MFA from The New York Academy of Art. He has done post-graduate study at The Institute of the Art Institute of Chicago and received an Artist’s Teaching Residency at the Altos de Chavon School of Art and Design. He is a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields grant and the Bailey Opportunity Grant and has been the featured artist at the Dogwood Arts Festival and ArtXtravaganza in Knoxville.

His work has been exhibited at numerous galleries in New York, including Sotheby’s, Panepinto Galleries, Dacia Gallery, and the Wilkenson Gallery at The New York Academy of Art.
